Today I had finally have got my Opae'ula habitat so that's why I am showing you where am going to put it. So this where I put it, I put my Opae 'ula habitat on the kitchen counter so it will be good view. But the first thing that I was thinking about putting my Opae'ula is putting on my desk in my room but my room to messy so next I decided to put in the bathroom but it there is no good place to put it so my finally decision was the kitchen counter. The kitchen counter was perfect because it is a perfect view and the kitchen counter was roomy.
Today we read a book that Mr.leong made that taught us how to take care of the shrimp. So we went over the the shrimp of the life cycle and label the life cycle on top of the pictures of the life cycle. So there was a egg, larva, juvenile, molted shell, and a adult and so that is the life cycle of the shrimp. Next we went over the care sheet page so Mr.Leong talked about don't put to much water to evaporate and only refill with fresh water. He also said that Leave the water about 1/4 inch space between the surface of the water and the top of the tank and don't leave the shrimp outside or the shrimp will die.Oh and I forgot that someone said the pictures look funny then Mr.Leong admit that he was the one who drew those funny pictures. Last he gave us this kind of algae so we can feed the fish and told us it is actually real human food, how cool was that. Mr.Leong said if there even one piece of mold than he gave us the tooth picks and the pack of algae thing.
Yay! The last thing for the opae'ula habitat. So first we got a foam strip and cut it into as many pieces that were on the line. Second we go to Ms.On and help us put the 2 strips on the cover for the habitat. Then we wait for the shrimp until
Today was fun day because we made accessories for the habitat. So first we take the rock out of the vase.Second we put the rock into the bucket so we can let the rocks dry. About 45 min later. Second we take out our rock. After we got our rock out we pick a leaf and my leaf is very small because my rock is big. Then we glued the leaf to the rock with hot glue. Last we put back our rock into the vase. Yay! Now we have our accessories fo the Opae'ula habitat.
We first put the gravel in the tank but only one scoop. Second you pick a rock for the shrimp habitat. I pick a big rock and has so many holes in it. Then we get all lot of bucket of water and Mr. dave put some chunks of salt into the water. And used this kind of thermometer to make sure the water is good for the shrimp habitat. We put more water because the thermometer thing said its to salty so we have to put more and more water until its right. after putting more water, we get a cup and put two scoops of water into the tank. Last we put the tank in to the garden.
Oh my gosh there so much opae 'ula. There are about a thousands of shrimp inside that tank. Looks like they are eating spirulina at the top of the water. We get this shrimp by big island by ordering it here. The opae'ula needs some light to live not to little and not to much or they will die. They can also eat algae. Some shrimp of the bottom left of the picture is resting on the rock and that is why you need accerice
