The past days not that much happened. Like their eating their food and their kind of active. There's no algae growing, their are kind of red, and they still haven't had any eggs if their females. But about a few days after I took them home, one night five opae`ula shrimp were floating of the ground a little not moving. I thought they were sleeping if they sleep or they were dead I didn't know. So the next morning I checked the five shrimp and they were still not moving. I took out the rock, plant, and shell and put it in a seprate container. Then I carefully took out the three alive shrimp and put it in a cup with water and took out the dead shrimp and threw it away. After I put everything back where it belonged. Now I only have three shrimp so I hope there will be more.
Today we read a booklet about how to care or them. ( How much to feed them, where to put them and other useful information). So you have to use a tooth pick to feed them. The food is called speralena and we got it in a small bag. Keep it in the refrigerater to keep fresh. Also don't keep it in the sun and don't fill it to the top. But when a lot water evaporates fill a cup of water wait then pour it in.
Today we took our opae`ula home. Now I still have eight I think. You feed it by using your toothpick and grab some speralena out of the bag. And tap it on top so it falls on the water for the shrimp to eat. When I bringed it home I put it on our round table we used to eat but not any more. Also I put those mat things under just in case the water fell. And I put the tooth picks next to it.
Today we put our shrimp in. So we first cut out two strips of this stick foam. Then we got a cover and put the sticky things around it. Next we placed the cover on our jars. Later we put in how many shrimps we had depending on how much shrimp tickets we had. Plus five more shrimps for everyone. After we placed our covers back on after we put in the shrimps in from the big tank.
Today we put an artificial plant in our jar. First we took out are rocks from our jar to dry. Then after a while we went back to our rocks and put on a artificial plant. We put it on by using hot glue. And put it on our rocks and into the jar.
Today we prepared the brackish water and put the rocks in. Brackish water is a mix of salt and water. First we took a tip of a spoonful of the decomposer and put in tour jars. Which was something that was black I think. Next we picked a medium size rock from the ground and put it in our jars. After that we filled a empty jar and dumped it in the bucket and did this two times. Then we put a chunk of salt and mixed it with the water. After we filled the hydrometer up to 1.006. And then we poured the leftover bucket of water in our jars half way. Last we put our jars in the garden.
Today we prepared the gravel to put in the jar. So first we poured in the gravel in the jar half an inch. We put the jar in a bucket so it didn't spill on the ground. Then we all poured our gravel in the bucket. And put water in the bucket from the faucet. After we washed the gravel with the water and did this about three times. Next we poured the gravel back to the jar. This is a picture of the opae`ula (shrimp) in the tank. This is the shrimp that we will take home to log every month. Instead we have to take it in a jar with a cap on, salt water, and other things like rocks. In the picture there is red and orange shrimp but there is also some big greyish shrimp with claws. Also we will feed them. The most you can get is 15 shrimp. If you get a opae`ula ticket you get one shrimp.
